Watching Church

Ministry for America

Many Christians would have to plead guilty of simply watching church some or all the time in church. Worship in church services requires involvement beyond watching. How can one tell someone is just watching church? You know the one who is looking around, checking her phone, oblivious to the move of God in the sanctuary. That person is not participating in corporate worship. There are even some who appear to have their heart focused on worship but their mind is somewhere else.

Just because one enters the church sanctuary doesn’t mean he or she is automatically entered in to worship. Satan does not care if you or anyone else attends and watches church. Enter in to worship and watch the devil and his demons get concerned. So, how does one enter into worship in church?

The Psalmist said in Psalms 100 verse 4, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” So why do many choose to sit outside and watch church rather than enter in to worship? Could it be a level of unbelief? Fear comes from unbelief. The writer of Hebrews shares this comment. Hebrews 10, verse 19, “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,”. We can boldly come before God in worship and prayer because Jesus paid our sin debt.

No blood bought person in the presence of God is forced to just watch church or enter in to worship. Watching church or entering in to worship is a choice. The choice becomes hard when spiritual knowledg and strength is low due to no spiritual exercise since the last service. Enter in to the worship service and let the Holy Spirit minister to you. Sometimes we have to press in to get close to God in church in spite of our preparation. Sometimes we have to battle our flesh to enter worship.  Whatever the cost or requirement, ask God to help you avoid just watching church and enter in to Worship God.
