No News is not Good News

There is plenty of disheartening news in our news media. Many avoid the news to avoid depression. Even others avoid church and Christian fellowship thinking more bad news will follow. Those of you who fall into the latter category represent the crowd I want to address first. The word Gospel means “Good News”. If not for the Gospel, we would be in a hopeless situation.
I have fell down on my walk with Christ numerous times. Each time I have got back up there was the same, loving, caring, forgiving hand that was gracefully extended to help me up. The Good News is He will do the same for you. Maybe you have been told you are worthless all your life, you have no future, you are a failure. Guess what, God does not look at you or any of his creation as failures. He loves you so much he sent his only Son to this planet to pay the price for you and for me. What a price! The bloody death on the cross at Calvary.
Want to hear something strange. When I go to the market I pay for something and it becomes mine. I then take possession of what I bought and take it home. The economic model in Christ is not that way and never will be that way. Jesus bought you. He could take you in his arms and take you home. However, He will not force you to become His. You have to choose to accept Him! What is your choice?

Arthur Wayne Wedge is a teacher at a rural public school. He was named after his mother’s dad and John Wayne his mother’s favorite actor. He has served in Christian Ministries for 39 years.
